People can believe whatever, but logic says that religion was instituted as a form of control. To control people with fear, really. I give it credit, its done a good job and we probably would have not become a civilized society without it… But now its 2011, and its showing its age. We know that the likelihood of being the only intelligent life in the universe is almost mathematically impossible… Lets stop being ignorant now, and embrace the knowledge we have and move forward as a species who has “grown up”. We dont need that crutch anymore, and if we do, then we’re not as “chosen” as religion would have had us believe to begin with.
